NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) has recently rolled out a number of planters across its estate, as part of our ongoing commitment in supporting and enabling NHSScotland to become more environmentally sustainable.

Visiting NSS’s Foresterhill site – home to the Aberdeen branch of the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) and one of our planters.

NSS Chief Executive, Mary Morgan commented:

“We are committed to growing our green spaces right across our estate. The planters are a gesture as part of this, but of course, our green space ambitions will stretch much further over the coming few years.”

She continues, “We recognise the health, wellbeing, and therapeutic benefits of greenspaces for staff and the communities we serve, and we will be looking at a wide range of ways we can lead by example in this area. We look forward to sharing more next year.”

As well as enhancing its green spaces across the NSS estate, the planters and their commemorative 75th anniversary plaques were made by two Scottish businesses – Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company in Renfrewshire, and family-ran business, GP Plantscape, in Livingston.

NSS Board Chair, Keith Redpath commented:

“As an Anchor organisation we want to invest back into the communities we serve wherever possible – however big or small. Being able to support local businesses – especially ones such as Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company who are doing tremendous work supporting veterans into employment – is a real bonus of this initiative.”
