Mary was appointed Chief Executive on 1 April 2021. She joined the National Health Service in Scotland in 1982 and subsequently pursued her career in Nursing and NHS management, leading major change programmes across health and social care.

Prior to her role as Chief Executive, Mary was Director of Strategy, Performance and Service Transformation, having taken on that role in November 2018. Before that, she was the Director for the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service, a highly rewarding leadership position at the heart of the NHS in Scotland.
