Pharmacy First Scotland: Additional Dressing Products Accepted for Payment

Please communicate this update at the earliest opportunity to community pharmacy teams and ask them to familiarise themselves with the additional products now eligible for payment.

To help reduce Pharmacy First Scotland (PFS) claim rejections, the data reference file used for August 2026 dispensing has been updated to include an additional 10 dressing products.

This change means that prescriptions for these items dispensed from August 2026 onwards will be accepted for payment.

This change follows feedback from Community Pharmacy Scotland (CPS) and its members. The feedback highlighted that valid claims were being rejected where dressings are reimbursed as a single unit but supplied from a larger outer pack. The enhancement is intended to recognise the relevant pack sizes and reduce claim rejections for products routinely supplied under the service.

PMR suppliers are being advised of this change and have been asked to remove any warning messages currently displayed for the products listed below.

Work is also underway to add the items to the Pharmacy First Scotland Approved List from 1 September 2026.
