This document gives guidance on the planning and design of facilities, to meet the needs of people who require a wide range of rehabilitation services.

These services may be provided in a variety of locations, for example acute general hospital or community-based, according to local planning and provision. They will be provided by a multidisciplinary team, often with multi-agency co-operation. Community-based services range from those provided within a community hospital to a simple administrative base for outreach workers. The intention of this document is to provide ideas and guidance for separate elements of the service which, by a process of mixing and matching, can be put together to achieve good management and value for money in capital and revenue terms. Chapter 3 discusses in detail facilities for separate elements of the service.
