Response

We have now completed the search of our records and can provide you with the following information:

Under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act, 2002 (FOISA), an organisation does not have to provide that information if it does not hold it. NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) does not hold some of the information you have requested.

Under Section 38 (1) (b) of FOISA, where the patient numbers are fewer than 5, the details have been redacted to ensure no patient identifiable information is released in line with the Caldicott Principles.

For the information we do hold, please find attached Appendix 1 – Coagulation Factor data, with the following caveats:

Supply data on Appendix 1 shows the number of vials supplied to patients via homecare only, as hospital supply data is unavailable for the period requested. This is due to NSS National Procurement (NP) only receiving this data on an ad-hoc basis from an external body, the Commercial Medicines Unit (CMU). We recommend contacting CMU at pharmacyqueries@cmu.nhs.uk who may be able to provide these figures for hospital usage.

We are unable to break this down by regimen, as we do not hold this level of detail. You may wish to contact the individual Health Boards who might be able to provide more detailed figures around patient numbers and the regimen for these drugs:

I trust you will find the information of assistance and if you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

If you are unhappy with any aspect of how we have dealt with your request, you can make representations to us asking us to review the handling of your request.

If you require any further information, please contact Head of Information and Cyber Security, Digital and Security within 40 working days of the date of this correspondence.
