Dear Scottish Dental Practice Board, I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Please could you provide the following information in relation to your authority’s domestic waste services:
- The name of the current contractor(s) responsible for:
- Domestic (residual) waste collection
- Recycling collection
- Food waste collection
The contract start date and original contract end date for each of the above services.
Details of any extension options available within each contract (including the length of each extension).
Confirmation of whether any extensions have been exercised, and if so, the revised contract end date.
If applicable, confirmation of any planned procurement timetable for replacement contracts.
I would prefer to receive the information in electronic format.

- The name of the current contractor(s) responsible for:
- Domestic (residual) waste collection.
The current contractor responsible for domestic (residual) waste collection is Biffa Waste Services Ltd.
- Recycling collection
The current contractor responsible for recycling collection is Biffa Waste Services Ltd.
- Food waste collection
- The current contractor responsible for food waste collection is Biffa Waste Services Ltd.
The contract start date and original contract end date for each of the above services.
NHS National Service Scotland (NSS) National Procurement (NP) Waste Management team have undertaken a mini competition (call-off) from NSS NP Framework NP803/24 Recyclates and General Waste Management which covers the above services. The call-off duration is 5 years with a start date of 12/01/25 and an end date of 12/01/30. A call‑off contract is an agreement that lets an organisation order goods or services from a pre‑established framework as and when needed, without negotiating new terms each time.
- Details of any extension options available within each contract (including the length of each extension).
There are no extension options available for this call-off contract.
- Confirmation of whether any extensions have been exercised, and if so, the revised contract end date.
As above, no extensions have been exercised for this call-off contract.
- If applicable, confirmation of any planned procurement timetable for replacement contracts.
NSS NP Framework NP803/24 will expire on 31/03/2029 and will be retendered by NP in advance of this.
