NHS NSS Equality Impact Assessment - ARHAI SONAAR 2024-25

The overarching public health goal of the ARHAI SONAAR Priority Programme is to reduce morbidity and mortality as a result of infections caused by micro-organisms that are resistant to antimicrobials. The three key approaches to this work are:

• Reduced need for and unintentional exposure to antimicrobials both in animals and humans and greater understanding of the role of the environment in the spread between humans and animals.
• Optimised antimicrobial use in humans and animals through monitoring and surveillance.
• Foster a national collaborative One Health approach to minimise the threat from antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
