Advice on what to do if problems arise around income tax for Scottish Infected Blood Support Scheme payments. Note that payments are tax-free.

Any payments you receive from the Scottish Infected Blood Support Scheme (SIBSS) don't need to be taken into account when calculating your:

  • United Kingdom income tax bill
  • any entitlement to means-tested benefits from the Department for Work and Pensions
  • financial assessment for charges for those living in residential care

The guidance outlines more about this topic and what to do if you have any issues.
