Prior approval timescales

The Prior Approval team turnaround period for Approval requests is 2 months for General Dentistry and 3 months for Orthodontics.
Valid payment claims are processed in the first available schedule. Rejections within MIDAS are dealt with within 20 working days, however, they normally clear at the end of each schedule.
The information below details the submission dates we are currently reviewing for prior approvals.
General prior approval
- Awaiting Dental Adviser review: 02 December 2025
- Awaiting Prior Approval Officer review: 09 January 2026
Orthodontic prior approval cases
- Awaiting Dental Adviser review: 13 October 2025
- Awaiting Prior Approval Officer (PAO) review: 04 December 2025
- Awaiting Physical evidence: 05 January 2026
