Prior approval timescales

The Prior Approval team turnaround period for Approval requests is 2 months for General Dentistry and 3 months for Orthodontics.
Valid payment claims are processed in the first available schedule. Rejections within MIDAS are dealt with within 20 working days, however, they normally clear at the end of each schedule.
The information below details the submission dates we are currently reviewing for prior approvals.
General prior approval
- Awaiting Dental Adviser review: 05 Feb 2026
- Awaiting Prior Approval Officer review: 13 Mar 2026
Orthodontic prior approval cases
- Awaiting Dental Adviser review: 21 Nov 2025
- Awaiting Prior Approval Officer (PAO) review: 11 Feb 2026
- Awaiting Physical evidence: 09 Feb 2026
