Prior approval timescales

The Prior Approval team turnaround period for Approval requests is 2 months for General Dentistry and 3 months for Orthodontics.
Valid payment claims are processed in the first available schedule. Rejections within MIDAS are dealt with within 20 working days, however, they normally clear at the end of each schedule.
The information below details the submission dates we are currently reviewing for prior approvals.
General prior approval
- Awaiting Dental Adviser review: 21 January 2026
- Awaiting Prior Approval Officer review: 20 February 2026
Orthodontic prior approval cases
- Awaiting Dental Adviser review: 11 November 2025
- Awaiting Prior Approval Officer (PAO) review: 28 January 2026
- Awaiting Physical evidence: 22 January 2026
