Join the Master Indemnity Agreement

The Master Indemnity Agreement (MIA) is an umbrella agreement for companies who supply equipment and other goods to health boards in Scotland.

It covers the use of equipment in the following categories:

  • on loan for trial and testing
  • on loan (not for trial and testing)
  • free issues

Eligibility

To join the Master Indemnity Agreement, your organisation must have:

  • public liability insurance
  • product liability insurance

The minimum level of cover for each is £5,000,000.

Members must maintain this level of cover and provide proof of insurance annually.

Applications must be:

  • signed by a board-level member of your company
  • saved in PDF format

You must also include proof of public liability and product liability insurance.

Email your application and insurance documents to NSS.MIAScotland@nhs.scot.

What happens next

Once we have authorised your application, we’ll sign it and return a copy to you.

We’ll then assign your company a reference number and add this to the Master Indemnity Register
