About workforce planning and development

The NHS Scotland Assure Workforce planning and development service will provide an integrated approach to workforce educational development. The service will support the development of a highly skilled and integrated workforce to prevent infection, reduce risk and improve safety in the healthcare built environment (HBE). The service is intended for those involved in HBE projects or related workstreams.
Working with NHS Education for Scotland (NES), the service will support staff by delivering:
These tools will help promote consistency across Scotland.
This service will support the workforce in gaining the knowledge and skills to prevent and control the potential risks posed by healthcare facilities.
The service will also develop a workforce planning strategy and resources to address current and planned workforce shortages. This will help create a sustainable workforce with the required HBE subject matter expertise available across NHS Scotland.
