What is the ownership arrangements for the Gyle Square offices, used by NHS NSS (for example, does NSS own the building, or rent it)

Assuming the building is rented, how much does NHS NSS spend on the building per year (in total, rent, rates etc)

What is the split of spend on the building by the other boards who use the space, HIS, Ambulance service etc?

I refer to your Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA) request that we received on 5 May 2026 requesting the following information.

We have now completed a search of our records and can provide you with the following information:

What is the ownership arrangements for the Gyle Square offices, used by NHS NSS (for example, does NSS own the building, or rent it)

It is important to note that from 1 April 2026, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) joined to form Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland), enabling transformation in health, social care, and the wider public sector. PSD Scotland can confirm that the Gyle Square premises is held on a leasehold basis.

Assuming the building is rented, how much does NHS NSS spend on the building per year (in total, rent, rates etc)

PSD Scotland currently spends circa £5.7m on the building per year.

What is the split of spend on the building by the other boards who use the space, HIS, Ambulance service etc?

The percentage split is as follows:

  • Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland) – 73.287%
  • Public Health Scotland (PHS) - 7.128%
  • Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) - 7.994%
  • Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) - 11.591%
