What is the scheme?

The scheme provides support to people who were historically infected with hepatitis C and/or HIV following treatment with NHS:

• blood
• blood products
• tissue

The Scottish Infected Blood Support Scheme (SIBSS) took over from the existing UK schemes for Scottish beneficiaries in April 2017.

Prior schemes included:

• Eileen Trust
• Macfarlane Trust
• MFET Ltd
• Skipton Fund
• Caxton Foundation

The new scheme was introduced as a result of the Scottish Financial Review commissioned by the Scottish Government.
